OVERVIEW:

The Microsoft 365 Security Engineer is a specialized IT professional responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the security infrastructure and features within the Microsoft 365 suite of services. The role requires in-depth knowledge and expertise in Microsoft 365 security solutions, including but not limited to identity and access management, threat protection, information protection, and security management. The primary goal of the Microsoft 365 Security Engineer is to safeguard an organization's digital assets and data while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS:

• ​Security Design and Implementation:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement Microsoft 365 security solutions tailored to the organization's needs.
• Configure and deploy security features such as Azure Active Directory, Conditional Access, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
• Set up and manage Identity Protection and Threat Detection policies to identify and respond to security threats.
• Threat Protection:
• Utilize Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (formerly Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection) to monitor and defend against endpoint security threats.
• Configure and manage Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) for email and file protection.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents, analyzing potential security breaches, and taking necessary actions to mitigate risks.
• Information Protection:
• Implement data loss prevention (DLP) policies to prevent sensitive data from leaving the organization.
• Utilize Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) to classify and protect documents and emails based on sensitivity levels.
• Ensure data encryption, rights management, and access control mechanisms are appropriately configured.
• Security Monitoring and Reporting:
• Monitor security events and logs across Microsoft 365 services to detect anomalies and potential security incidents.
• Generate and present regular security reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators and security posture.
• Security Compliance:
• Stay up-to-date with industry security standards, best practices, and compliance requirements.
• Ensure that Microsoft 365 security configurations align with relevant regulatory standards and organizational policies.
• Security Automation:
• Leverage automation and scripting to streamline security-related tasks and improve operational efficiency.
• Develop custom solutions and workflows using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API, and other automation tools.
• Incident Response and Remediation:
• Actively participate in incident response efforts and provide technical expertise to contain and remediate security incidents effectively.
• Training and Knowledge Sharing:
• Conduct training sessions for internal teams to enhance their understanding of Microsoft 365 security features and best practices.
• Engage in knowledge sharing activities to foster a culture of security awareness and continuous learning within the organization.

​SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 10+ years proven experience as a Security Engineer with a focus on Microsoft 365 security solutions.
• Microsoft SC-100 certification.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and Azure AD.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Cloud App Security (MCAS) and Azure Security Center is desirable.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and customization.
• Demonstrated experience in incident response, security analysis, and risk assessment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies.
• Experience working in global organizations.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently, as well as collaboratively with teams, some of which may be geographically distributed.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
