Your Role as a Senior Product Owner:

The Product Owner aligns product vision / Initiatives and prioritizes what is delivered within an Agile development team environment to deliver solutions that support the business objectives. They are a direct owner of a delivery team’s backlog. The majority of their time will be spent breaking down features into stories that can be delivered iteratively to provide value to our clients. Once items are refined and prioritized, they will help the team deliver the definition of done by acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SMe) and/or ScrumMaster as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with product management and technical lead(s) to review product vision and roadmap, and ensure that business objectives provided by the product manager are understood and well-defined so the team can work towards solutions
  • Participate in planning sessions with product management and technical lead(s) and other Product Owners to identify core company goals
  • Ensure that the voice of the customer is integrated throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Create and own user stories that are in alignment with our product vision and meet the business needs of our users
  • Collaborate with UX Designer(s) to ensure user experience designs meet the needs of our clients and our business objectives
  • Lead story refinement working sessions, sprint planning sessions, Daily Stand-up, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives following Agile development processes to deliver features to our clients
  • Prioritize user stories to ensure work focuses on stories that have maximum value
  • Provide final acceptance of user stories that have been demonstrated by the team and ensure acceptance criteria have been met
  • Maintain the backlog to ensure that the team has a continuously refined backlog of user stories
  • Address team blockers as needed and raise blockers to leadership that impede the team from achieving committed goals
  • Demonstrate completed product features to product management, clients, and the organization to obtain acceptance / feedback

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience delivering product features in a software development life cycle utilizing Agile approaches, techniques, and tools
  • Experience leading and fostering team collaboration following an Agile development methodology
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required to communicate with team members, different departments, upper management, vendors, and consumers of the company’s products
  • Able to work independently and/or within a team environment
  • Detail-oriented, self-directed, and highly accountable
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to execute identified priorities with high-quality standards
  • Strong facilitation and conflict resolution skills

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of proven experience leading and fostering high performing teams in an Agile environment
