About the Role:
We’re seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support key accounting functions including revenue accounting, monthly close, financial statement preparation, and payroll accounting. This role will also support Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), partnering cross-functionally to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, and timely insights for leadership.
This role is based in our Mountain View, CA office and is hybrid in office Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue & General Ledger
- Prepare revenue entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts; investigate and resolve variances.
- Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and account analysis.
Financial Statements & Reporting
- Prepare and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related schedules.
- Support reporting accuracy, including variance analysis and explanation of key drivers.
- Assist with management reporting and ad hoc financial analysis.
Payroll Accounting
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations (wages, taxes, benefits, PTO, bonuses).
- Ensure payroll-related liabilities are accurately recorded and supported.
- Partner with HR and payroll providers to resolve discrepancies and support audit/compliance requests.
Sales Tax (Refunds & Exemptions)
- Prepare and submit sales tax refund requests; track status and reconcile refunds when received.
- Review, process, and maintain sales tax exemption certificates; ensure proper documentation and retention.
- Coordinate with internal teams and customers/vendors to resolve sales tax questions and support compliance.
AP/AR Support (As Needed)
- Provide backup support for AP activities such as invoice coding, vendor reconciliations, and payment support during peak periods or coverage needs.
- Provide backup support for AR activities such as invoicing assistance, cash application support, and customer account research as needed.
- Assist with resolving vendor/customer inquiries when required.
Controls, Audit, and Process Improvement
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to requests.
- Help document and improve accounting processes, controls, and procedures.
- Assist with accounting system enhancements and integrations (ERP/accounting tools).
AI-First Tools & Innovation
- Leverage AI-powered tools and automation to streamline accounting workflows, including close processes, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and machine learning tools to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy across accounting functions.
- Stay current on emerging AI tools relevant to accounting and finance, and champion their adoption within the team.
- Partner with finance and technology stakeholders to evaluate, implement, and optimize AI-driven solutions (e.g., automated data extraction, anomaly detection, intelligent reconciliation).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience (industry and/or public accounting).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial statement preparation; experience with revenue accounting and payroll accounting preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks); familiarity with AP/AR and sales tax processes is a plus.
- Comfortable using AI-first tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, or accounting-focused AI platforms) to improve productivity and workflow efficiency.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and meet deadlines; CPA or CPA-eligible preferred.
The salary range for this position is $102,000-$115,000 per year. Pay is dependent upon factors including skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.
