About the Role

Subject is hiring multiple Curriculum Alignment and Customizations Specialists to support our expanding library of courses across English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Career & Technical Education (CTE). Each specialist will work within their subject-matter expertise to align our cinematic, AI-powered curriculum with state and national standards and to design state-specific lessons and activities that address the unique needs of students across the country.

In this hourly contract position (32 hours per week), you’ll unpack standards, analyze depth of knowledge (DOK), and produce detailed, high-quality alignment and customization documentation to support district RFPs, state adoptions, and internal product development. You’ll also collaborate with our content and product teams to design engaging, standards-based lessons and learning activities that bring Subject’s courses to life for diverse learners.

This role is ideal for educators who are both analytical and creative, and who are organized professionals who can work independently while contributing to a collaborative, fast-paced team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze state and national standards to ensure accurate curriculum alignment for Subject’s digital courses in your assigned content area.
  • Unpack standards into measurable skills and map them to existing Subject content and assessments.
  • Create and maintain alignment documentation, crosswalks, and DOK-level tagging for K–12 courses.
  • Conduct quality reviews of curriculum alignment work to ensure accuracy and consistency across projects.
  • Collaborate with internal product, content, and partnerships teams to ensure completeness and precision of alignments.
  • Review district RFP or adoption requirements and support alignment documentation for submissions.
  • Track progress across multiple projects and meet deadlines within fast-paced development cycles.
  • Attend a weekly virtual team meeting and a weekly 1:1 check-in with the Academic Solutions Compliance Manager for project updates.
  • Contribute subject matter expertise and insight into evolving trends in standards, curriculum design, and instructional frameworks.
  • Create state-specific learning experiences—including student-facing activities, lesson materials, and video scripts—that adapt Subject’s core curriculum to meet local standards and student needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3+ years of K–12 teaching, instructional design, or curriculum development experience.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following areas: English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, or CTE.
  • Strong understanding of standards frameworks (CCSS, NGSS, CTE pathways, and state-specific standards).
  • Experience unpacking standards and applying Depth of Knowledge (DOK) or Bloom’s Taxonomy.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and map curriculum content to standards.
  • Strong writing and documentation skills; able to communicate findings clearly and concisely.
  • Experience with instructional and assessment design is highly desirable, including developing engaging, standards-aligned lessons and activities that support diverse learners.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel/Sheets, and general data management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting curriculum alignment for RFPs or state instructional materials adoptions.
  • Learns quickly and is adaptive.
  • Experience conducting gap analyses or working with standards databases.
  • Knowledge of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) frameworks and criteria.
  • Familiarity with digital or blended curriculum design.
  • Comfort working with AI-enabled tools and adapting quickly to new technologies.
