We are a supportive team who value collaboration, curiosity, and continuous learning, and we provide structured professional development along with mentoring from experienced Learning Designers. Our team is passionate about creating education that is inclusive, impactful, and helps both universities and learners achieve their goals.

The Impact You Will Make:

The Senior Learning Designer plays a critical role in shaping the quality, consistency, and impact of online learning experiences for a dedicated university partnership. Acting as a trusted advisor to academics and institutional leaders, this role leads the design, development, and continuous improvement of online courses and programs that are pedagogically sound, accessible, and aligned with partner goals, accreditation standards, and student needs.

Within Academic Services, the Senior Learning Designer provides leadership in learning design practice, mentors Learning Designers and Associate Learning Designers, and contributes to broader quality, capability-building, and innovation initiatives. Through strong collaboration, strategic thinking, and expert application of learning design frameworks and technologies, this role directly influences learner experience, partner satisfaction, and program success.

What You Will Do:

  • Design and develop high-quality online courses and programs by applying advanced learning design principles, adult learning theory, accessibility standards, and evidence-based pedagogical frameworks.
  • Lead course and program design reviews to ensure alignment with learning outcomes, accreditation and regulatory requirements, partner expectations, and Risepoint quality standards.
  • Consult with academics, program leaders, and institutional stakeholders to provide expert guidance on curriculum structure, assessment strategy, learning activities, and effective use of learning technologies.
  • Manage complex course and program portfolios by planning workflows, coordinating schedules and resources, and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery across multiple initiatives.
  • Coach, review, and mentor Learning Designers and Associate Learning Designers, providing feedback that strengthens consistency, capability, and design quality across the team.
  • Collaborate closely with production, media, and technology colleagues to ensure learning design intent is accurately realised through course builds, multimedia assets, and LMS configurations.
  • Interpret and apply partner policies, academic governance requirements, and accreditation standards to ensure compliant and sustainable course and program design.
  • Maintain and evolve partner-specific templates, components, and design standards to support consistency and scalability across programs.
  • Use learner analytics, quality assurance findings, student performance data, and academic feedback to inform iterative improvements at course and program levels.
  • Contribute to capability building across Academic Services by participating in professional learning, mentoring, documentation, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Lead and support innovation in learning design by piloting, evaluating, and embedding new tools, frameworks, and AI-enabled practices that enhance learner experience and design efficiency.
  • Represent Learning Design in partner and internal forums, building strong professional relationships that support collaboration, trust, and shared outcomes.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Online courses and programs demonstrate strong pedagogical quality, accessibility, and alignment with learning outcomes, accreditation standards, and partner expectations.
  • Academics and institutional partners experience the Senior Learning Designer as a trusted advisor who provides clear, practical, and strategic guidance on learning design decisions.
  • Learning Designers and Associate Learning Designers deliver consistent, high-quality design outcomes, supported by effective coaching, feedback, and shared standards.
  • Course and program portfolios are delivered on time and to quality expectations, with risks identified early and managed effectively.
  • Continuous improvement is evident through the use of data, feedback, and innovation to enhance learner experience and program impact.

How Impact Will be Measured:

  • Quality and consistency of design outcomes: Courses meet Risepoint learning design standards, accessibility requirements, and partner expectations, with positive QA outcomes and minimal rework.
  • Timely delivery of portfolios: Course and program milestones are achieved according to agreed schedules, with effective coordination of stakeholders and resources.
  • Partner and academic feedback: Academics and institutional leaders report high levels of satisfaction with learning design support, consultation, and collaboration.
  • Team capability uplift: Learning Designers demonstrate improved consistency, confidence, and quality in design practice as a result of coaching and mentoring.
  • Effective use of data and innovation: Learner data, QA insights, and emerging tools (including AI-enabled practices) are applied thoughtfully to improve learning experiences and design efficiency.

Experience That Matters Most

  • Extensive experience in learning design or instructional design: Typically 7–10 years’ experience designing and delivering high-quality online learning in higher education or comparable adult learning environments.
  • Advanced learning design expertise: Demonstrated ability to apply pedagogical frameworks, adult learning principles, and accessibility standards to complex course and program design challenges.
  • Strong stakeholder consulting capability: Proven experience working closely with academics, subject-matter experts, and senior stakeholders to shape curriculum and guide design decisions.
