About your Team
As part of the International Legal team, you will report directly to the International Legal Manager and collaborate with professionals located in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and LATAM regions. Teachable, as part of Hotmart Co, has part of its operations in Brazil, where most of the legal team members are located, including the Head of the Legal Area. Official communication between the legal area and other areas of Teachable and Hotmart is in English, but there may be interactions or documentation in Spanish and Portuguese.
What is the role?
Our Legal team is looking for an International Jr. Legal Lawyer to support the US in all its legal needs, mainly commercial contracts and corporate governance of the local entity; day-to-day operations include annual corporate compliance, drafting and review of contracts, handling governmental procedures from the legal perspective, KYC procedures, payments, support handling consumer protection cases and litigations, as well as legal research region-wide.
This person will report to the International Legal Manager and will provide legal advisory and expertise for commercial, civil, employment, real estate, litigation, tax and local regulatory compliance matters for operating in the U.S.
This position is hybrid to our NYC office, 2-3 days in the office.
In this role you'll:
- Demonstrate responsiveness to deliver legal services to support business operations and growth, and ability to create collaborative relationships with internal clients.
- Own commercial: Draft and/or review commercial agreements, including partnership agreements and vendor agreements.
- Experience dealing with consumer protection, labor, and prosecution authorities is highly appreciated.
- Instruct external counsel as required and ensure advice is appropriately captured and acted upon.
- Provide support to the internal clients, and other local corporate committees to ensure the proper functioning of the United States Business Units.
- Ensure all internal and external registration and record-keeping are successfully completed.
- Occasionally travel within LATAM.
What you'll bring:
- 2 years of experience with a company in the legal corporate area or law firm.
- Excellent knowledge of corporate governance with a flexible and practical approach to work.
- Draft, review, analyze, and sign contracts and highly complex documents that create an obligatory link between the company and third parties, nationally and internationally.
Nice to have:
- Intermediate to advanced Spanish and/or Portuguese
- Knowledge of taxation
- Working in or with listed companies in the technology area

Base salaries will be reviewed at regular intervals throughout the year, typically following performance review cycles currently conducted bi-annually or in conjunction with a promotion.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- For this role, the cash compensation package potential is $120,000 - $155,000. A salary offer will be determined by a number of factors including experience, skill level, education, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all teammate pay and compensation programs regularly to ensure competitive and fair pay.
