Q. How much will I make? And is this consistent each month?

You will get paid at the rate of $20/hr - $40/hr. Depending on the number of students you manage, you can easily make up to $3K to $4K a month!

Q. How do you make sure that my pay either continues to increase or remain consistent from month to month?

When you join us as a certified tutor, we want to make sure that you can grow with us. Each month, since our company is constantly growing, new families/students keep joining our program. When they join, we provide the first opportunities to our most experienced tutors as we want to take care of our customers right from the start. This means that, as long as you continue to make progress and offer consistent high levels of tutoring services, you are guaranteed to keep increasing the number of students that you are responsible for coaching.

Q. How does your tutor pay compare to those offered by competitors like Mathnasium, Kumon, or other tutoring companies?

We are very happy to share with you that our tutor compensation levels are the highest in the industry! Based on our survey, and direct feedback from those tutors that have joined us after having worked with other tutoring companies, our pay is approximately 2x-3x more than what is provided in the market today.

Q. Why do you pay your tutors so well?

Well, it all adds up, that’s why. We believe that if we offer the best tutoring services to our parents and students, they will not only be happy that we are accelerating their learning outcomes, we are confident that they will share about their experience with us with their friends and other family members. In addition, we also think that happy tutors make great tutors! As a company, when our employees and our customers are happy, the company’s shareholders are happy as well. So, you can say that we are in the happiness creation business and you won’t be wrong for thinking that :-)

Q. Is there a training period?

Yes, we have a Tutor Certification program! This will help you prepare for our program, but also teach insightful tips that you can utilize in any future teaching or tutoring positioning!

The certification program is self paced, with a few live sessions that candidates attend via Zoom.

Q. What qualifications do I need?

Thinkster tutors either have a Math teaching background or Math major/minor in college. You need to have a solid foundation of basic math and can teach math concepts on the spot. We want to see that you can think flexibly and non-linearly to solve problems - just like our Thinkster students learn to do!

We look for individuals that enjoy math and can relate math problems to real-world situations. You need a strong knowledge of the Common Core and Singapore Math strategies. You should also enjoy working with technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Q. How long do I have to commit?

Our part-time tutors dedicate at least 20 hours a week to Thinkster. This is divided between tutoring sessions (typically 15 hours a week), learning plan modifications, and parent communications. We also require that you commit to staying with the company for at least six months.

Q. How many students can I work with?

You are the dedicated tutor for the families assigned to you. Based on the number of hours you work, your class size can vary and grow rapidly!

Q. What hours do I typically have to work?

The whiteboard tutoring session hours are after school hours or on weekends. Typically, the sessions run between 3 pm and 10 pm EST and between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm EST on weekends. You can complete grading, assignments, and reporting at any time of the day.

Q. What does a typical day of a coach look like?

Your work includes reviewing graded student submissions, adding assignments, scheduling and conducting whiteboard sessions with students, or holding phone conferences with parents.
