Senior Tax Analyst

IXL Learning, a leading edtech company with products used by over 14 million students worldwide, is looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to support our Global tax operation. In this role, you will work closely with the Tax Director and Tax Lead as well as international and domestic finance team members to execute the corporate tax functions. The ideal candidate will be able to identify and research various tax issues, clearly articulate findings, and demonstrate the ability to use tax knowledge and previous experience to add value to a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and high-growth company.

This is a full time position with a hybrid work schedule of 3+ days per week in our San Mateo, CA headquarters office.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Work with sales data from various data sources and manage US indirect tax filings and ensure accurate and timely filing of sales & use tax returns
  • Review and validate sales tax exemption certificates and maintain accurate records
  • Communicate with outside accounting firms regarding direct tax and indirect tax filings and provide the necessary information
  • Support implementation of foreign indirect tax compliance including VAT, GST/QST and engage in process improvement
  • Coordinate with local firms regarding statutory financials and local income tax return of our foreign subsidiaries
  • Assist with due diligence and M&A tax integration
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including accounting, sales, and legal, to ensure tax-related information is accurate and complete
  • Understand the tax impact of business operations and ensure tax needs are identified and considered, summarize conclusions, and communicate results to the tax team
  • Assist with preparing ASC740 tax provision
  • Assist with Federal and California R&D credit calculation and Foreign tax credit
  • Assist with preparing Federal and State quarterly estimated tax workpaper, make tax payments, and post journal entries in NetSuite
  • Assist with transfer pricing study
  • Assist in responding to various tax inquiries and notices and assist tax audit
  • Monitor the company’s US and international tax calendar, track to meet various deadlines associated with day-to-day responsibilities alongside special project-work and update as needed
  • Help with business registrations in various states by working with legal, sales and operation teams
  • Prepare annual local tax filing and gross revenue tax returns
  • Review tax related G/L accounts to ensure accuracy and reconcile

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • BA/BS degree
  • At least 2+ years of relevant compliance experience in a public accounting firm and/or the tax function of a multinational corporation
  • Basic Federal, State and Local, and International tax knowledge is required
  • Strong multitasking, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills are required
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • CPA preferred
  • Foreign indirect tax experience is a plus
  • Experience with IT systems implementation projects related to transactional taxes is a plus
  • Experience with Vertax and NetSuite are a plus
  • Experience with foreign corporate income tax return preparation and review is preferred
  • Experience with the impact of international transactions on the company’s ASC 740 reporting is preferred
  • Willingness to learn and deploy technology solutions for various tax responsibilities

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 to $130,000+ benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
