Yellowdig (https://www.yellowdig.com) is looking for a backend software engineer to join our team building the next generation of learning tools. As a backend engineer at Yellowdig, you would be responsible for writing, testing and shipping high quality application code to improve the experience of our users and customers. You would own modules within the codebase and contribute to a high quality application

Skills we are looking for:

• Experience working on production-grade software systems
• Hands-on experience with JVM based languages and tooling
• Knowledge and understanding of the cloud, database archiecture and web services
• Ability to debug, write and maintain application code

Requirements:

• 4+ years working on a high traffic web application
• Solid experience with administration of various AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, etc)
• Prior experience with CI/CD and associated toolsets (e.g. Circle CI)
• Understanding of systems and application design
• Skilled at clearly articulating design ideas while being receptive to constructive criticism

Bonus Points:

• Experience with Clojure or Scala
• Interest in functional programming techniques
• Comfort with larger codebases and engineering tradeoffs
