Job Summary:
The Institution Affairs Senior Manager will play a crucial role in building and maintaining relationships with institution stakeholders, including universities, research institutes, hospitals, and relevant authorities. This position will be based in Beijing and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, publishing, and other internal and external stakeholders. We expect you:
Have a deep understanding of universities and hospitals, capable of initiating and maintaining strategic engagement with these institutions.
Secure speaking slots and participation in industry events within the education and healthcare sectors to raise Wiley's profile in the education and hospital community.
Demonstrate the ability to arrange/secure meetings with high level decision makers at universities, facilitating Wiley’s strategic partnership and initiatives with universities.
Capable of building, cultivating and maintaining robust relationships with universities and hospitals, ensuring daily communication and cooperation effectiveness, resulting in successful outcomes.
Work effectively with cross-functional teams including publishing, sales, and marketing to build and maintain business collaboration with universities and hospitals.
Be able to monitor and provide regular policy analysis on the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the National Health Commission (NHC) policies related to research publishing, offering current, insightful and concise policy briefings to internal stakeholders.
Using the understanding of current policy, to predict possible future trends in both the healthcare and education sectors to inform Wiley’s strategic approach to future business opportunities.
Initiate, organize and lead partnerships with local universities and hospitals to support Wiley's global and China development strategy.
Possess a high level of knowledge of research evaluation and decision-making systems within universities and hospitals, especially with respect to research funding-related policies.
Display excellent collaboration skills with the ability to initiate and manage joint events, activities, and workshops with universities and key external stakeholders, effectively leveraging internal and external resources to drive the success of the events.
Manage external relationships to ensure all revenue and budget targets set by the business are either met or exceeded.
We are looking for people who are/have:
Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree with STEM research background (preferred).
7+ years of significant experience with academic relations in the research or publishing industry, working experience in academic journal publishing or within the health network environment is strongly preferred.
Have in-depth knowledge of the system, and the ability to map out and engage key stakeholders in universities, hospitals, and research institutions to initiate meaningful dialogues and partnerships.
Bring an existing well-established network within the hospital, university and research sectors.
Strong business sense and the ability to work well with other teams is required for driving initiatives and forging partnerships to enhance Wiley’s business growth.
Strong commercial acumen demonstrated, with the ability to engage both internal and external stakeholders at the highest level.
Fluency in English, with strong verbal and writing skills.
Strong problem-solving, analytics and project management skills.
Self-motivated, and excellent communication skills are required for this position.

The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the UK, Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
