About the Role

A key member of our executive leadership team, the CTO provides technical leadership, guides product development, and drives innovation to ensure we remain at the forefront of our industry. Your ability to lead inclusively, navigate across the organization, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and central technology teams in a matrixed organization will be critical to our success.
This role is a remote US position. You must be able to travel 25% of the time
The CTO of Pearson VUE will:
Shape and deliver on the VUE product technology strategy.
Maintain strong relationships internally and externally to the organization.
Become a thought leader within the industry.
Drive industry best practices and efficiencies across the VUE technology team.
Provide technology leadership and governance for Pearson VUE products and services.
Delight our customers by fostering innovation and adaptability.
Lead a world-class team that embraces inclusion and engagement as key to success.
Build a strong culture aligned with the company’s overall vision, mission, and values.
Additionally, the CTO will be responsible for sparking excitement for Pearson VUE’s industry-leadingsolutions by meeting with customers and presenting at industry conferences to demonstrate our team’s technology prowess, gaining understanding of industry trends, gathering feedback on our products, and recruiting diverse technology talent.
Key Responsibilities include:
Contributes to the overall Pearson VUE short- and long-term strategy based on an understanding of the market, customer feedback, and/or new technological innovations
Creates and governs the single unified product technology workflow
Provides leadership over the alignment and fulfillment of the product roadmaps
Oversees the rollout of all assessment technology services and accurate implementation of solutions and continuous improvement in all areas
Leads research, development, and implementation of solutions (such as AI) to enhance product innovation and drive business growth
Ensures product and system quality through software engineering/development – this includes verifying teams adhere to quality control processes, taking corrective actions if issues should occur, and effectively rolling out changes to prevent reoccurrence of issues
Oversees software release engineering, software development operations, and software systems monitoring
Partners with our enterprise technology team to implement technology systems and processes in support of managing operations, infrastructure, enterprise security, and cloud
Ensures technology adheres to all software security requirements
Manages software project scope, customer extensions, and configurations
Builds partnerships both internal and external to Pearson
About you
Your Core Experience & Education:
Minimum 10 years in a progressive technology leadership capacity, with a strong experience base in product and systems software, leading large scale employee teams
Master’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent is preferred
Demonstrated experience leading software product development, engineering ,and technology delivery
Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence to enhance workflows and/or as features of new products to better personalize user experiences
Experience as a technology leader in the assessment industry or scheduling technology delivery business would be highly regarded

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
The full-time salary range is between $250,000 - $290,000.
