About this role 

\n

As a software engineer in Messaging Team at Udemy, you will be responsible for the platforms that manage all aspects of communications we have with our customers (i.e. Email, Mobile Push Notifications, SMS, Web Push, etc.). You will work closely with the product, design and data teams to develop platforms to personalize communications with all of Udemy’s end-users including users, instructors, businesses, and more.

What you'll be doing

    \n
  • Working on full-stack development in Kotlin, Spring Boot, Python, Django, React, Spark and MySQL, Kafka, Redis.
  • \n
  • Developing, testing, documenting, and releasing full-stack, end-to-end features
  • \n
  • Participating in sprint planning and getting work done in two-week sprints
  • \n
  • Participating in code reviews as well as post-deployment site monitoring
  • \n
  • Contributing to a team culture that values quality, robustness, and scalability while fostering innovation.
  • \n
  • Researching and evaluating new technologies that may improve our processes or code bases
  • \n
  • Mentor and collaborate with the team members to deliver features in the product roadmap
  • \n

What you’ll have

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience
  • \n
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design and computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms)
  • \n
  • Experience with Java, Kotlin, or any modern object-oriented language
  • \n
  • Experience with Python
  • \n
  • Experience in microservice architecture
  • \n
  • Understanding of distributed system and messaging concepts
  • \n
  • Experience with web application development using modern framework ORMs (e.g. Django, Rails, Symfony, CodeIgniter, etc.)
